This year the Seedley and Langworthy In Bloom has been sponsored and supported by Salford City Council, The Seedley and Langworthy Trust, Local Residents Groups, Oglesby Trust, The Langworthy Cornerstone Board, Urban Splash, local traders and a variety of community groups.

July 2007
Street & Alley Competitions
Following on from last year’s success there were another series of local competitions. Local residents were invited to enter in the following categories; Best Street, Best Alley, Overall Winner and Judges Commendation. Winning entrants received gardening vouchers, trophies and certificates.

September 2007
Communities in Bloom Ceremony - New Brunswick Canada
The group were awarded a 4 bloom certificate with 80% marking , missing a five bloom award by 2 %.

October 2007
The group were invited to put up a display board to promote the group’s activities at the presentations of the North West in Bloom Awards Ceremonies over two days. To the group’s delight we once again won the Urban Regeneration category and we received the nomination to the Britain in Bloom National Finals of 2008. The group sponsor the School’s Award and this we were proud to present to the winning school.

November 2007
As part of the regeneration programme, the block improvement scheme was extended to the Langworthy shops.A winter planting took place, barriers were planted in situe.

December 2007
The community celebrated the coming of Christmas with a community carol singing event which took place at the Langworthy Cornerstone. Participants were offered mince pies and soft drinks.

February & March 2008
A further 3 alley-gating schemes are due to be completed in the near future benefiting 65 properties.

April 2008
The Langworthy Hotel is still struggling to find a private developer., so nothing has been approved as yet.

Group members have shared their experiences and skills with other In-Bloom groups, throughout the city. This has been carried out in a variety of ways such as giving presentations, one to one discussions and general support and guidance in a friendly and approachable manner.
