Can We Introduce Our Group Members!
The In Bloom Group is an independent constituted community group, made up of local people who are very passionate about making their community a better place to live and to work for everybody. The group normally meets on a Wednesday evening at the Seedley and Langworthy Trust and anyone is welcome to come along and join us. We do welcome help at any time even only you have an hour or two to spare.
Below is a recent photograph of the group when they received their certificates for a 100 hours of Community Volunteering.

Below is a brief introduction to our members;
Jenny Sowerby (Chair and Joint Coordinator) has been in the position of Joint Coordinator with her husband, Tony Sowerby, for 4 years. She is very passionate about planting, bringing the community together and achieving acknowledgements for the efforts put in by the group and community. Jenny is one of the driving forces behind the group and well equipped to keep Seedley and Langworthy on the map.
Jeananne Young (Vice Chair) is a founder member of the group and gets involved in all the group’s varied activities. She is passionate about making Seedley and Langworthy a better place for everybody.
Tony Sowerby (Joint Coordinator) is Jenny’s husband and right hand man. In his words ‘he makes the tea’. Joking aside, he is the only male member of the group and would like to ’some other male company’ to join and give him a hand with the heavy lifting and shifting. He is the true brick of the group and it would be nearly impossible to carry on without him.
Pam Hough (Secretary) for her sins is Secretary and has been all of the 6 years. Much to her disgust, she would like to give it up, but no one else wants the job, so she is stuck with it! She is a stalwart of the group and she will have a go at anything. Pam holds a full time position within the council and still finds the time to support the group.
Val Siddall (Treasurer) has been a member of the group, on and off, during the past 5 years whilst holding down a full time job. Now she is retired and joined the group fully. She took over as Treasurer early in 2008 and she will crack the whip to stop us spending too much money. Val, too, is passionate about planting and has a nice show of flowers in her alleyway.
Doreen Temple (Member) is a gem and nothing is too much trouble for her even though she retired a long time ago, she still thinks she is 18!!! Doreen is always there no matter what there is to do. She comes along with a smile and a spring in her step. She plants a great deal in her Residents Group of ‘Cracked Pots’ whilst playing an active role in this group.
Josie O’Hara ( Member) just loves planting up whether it would be for the group or outside her own house. Josie too is retired and enjoys being a member of the core group as long as she has time to walk her dog and spend time with Jack.
Frances Baxter (Member) has been with the group from the beginning. Well, What do we say about Francis?… She cares about everybody when she is not always well herself. She is like the mother of the group even though she still works full time.
The Seedley and Langworthy Trust support the In bloom Group in every way possible and try to have someone from the Trust to attend meetings and to support us with the Regional and National Competitions. Presently, SALT have asked Meral Mercan-Darby to be their representative on the group. Meral has been with the group for the last 6 months and helped the group with compiling this year’s portfolio and designing fliers and any other promotional support materials.
