Margaret Stinson from Ontario Canada is a graduate of Toronto’s Teacher College. Margaret has received numerous awards which is a tribute to her community involvement and includes the Nova Scotia Tourism Industry Award for her outstanding contribution to the enhancement and promotion of civic pride.
Jenny Sowerby Chair of the Seedley and Langworthy in Bloom group says. ‘We are very happy to be nominated by the Royal Horticultural Society to be part of this prestigious international competition and will give our guest a warm Salford welcome. Despite the torrential rainfall, the refuse strike and the changing landscape of homes and buildings in the Seedley and Langworthy area the residents, children and young people have got behind this scheme year on year. Hundreds of volunteer hours have been given so that we can continue to enjoy and improve our communities’.
The visitors will meet the Mayor of Salford Councillor Val Burgoyne at 3.15pm on Wednesday at the Langworthy Cornerstone and then will be travelling onto Shrewsbury and Atcham to see other UK entries.
Note to editors: The Communities in Bloom international competition is in its 13th year.
Seedley and Langworthy in Bloom is supported by the Seedley and Langworthy Trust, the Environment and Neighbourhood Management Team, Ordsall and Langworthy Community Committee and Urban Vision.
