Elsie Graham Memorial Trophy Judging Day

This year the In Bloom group sadly lost one of its most enigmatic members, Elsie Graham. Elsie was one of the founding members of the group, she was very enthusiastic and passionate about improving the area where she lived. From helping out on community planting days to leaflet delivery Elsie did it. She was never happier than when she was up to her elbows in compost and flowers. In a fitting tribute to Elsie the In Bloom Group decided to start its own local competition and award a trophy to the winners in memory of Elsie.

The local categories are as follows; Best Street, Best Alleyway, Overall Winner.

Winners Best Street Keswick Grove Best Alley Highfield Road/Fitzwarren Street RA Overall winner Annie Street RA

The competition was judged by our Neighbourhood Manager Ross Spanner, and Edward Down from the New Weaste Allotment Society. The In Bloom Group are working closely with the Neighbourhood Management Team and the Allotment Society to improve and develop the neighbourhood. For further information about Neighbourhood Management, please contact ross.spanner@salford.gov.uk

The Judges recommended a commendation go to Granoseed Residents Association who are currently working very hard to develop a waste piece of land into their very own community garden. The Elsie Graham Memorial Awards have now become an annual competition, any Residents Association wishing to compete should contact the Seedley and Langworthy Trust for more information.
